About landm

Mark and Leslie Degner are photographers based in central Alberta, Canada that specialize in, but don’t limit themselves to, photographing western Canada and the Canadian Rocky Mountains. They offer inspiring images that vary from the abstract to realistic, the intimate scene to the grand landscape, and the human element to the breathtaking beauty of nature that surrounds us.

Birds and the Nikon Coolpix P1000

Back in the fall of 2015, when I was doing Gear Reviews for Outdoor Photography Canada magazine, one of the products that I reviewed was the Nikon Coolpix P900 camera that had a 24-2000mm built in lens.  Before I had a chance to try it, I thought that it was more of a gimmick camera, but […]

From the Lens

I have often wondered how a painter would interpret my photographs onto the canvas; I now have my answer for a few of my images. For the show they asked people to submit photographs that the artists could be inspired and work from. The painters and sculptors then chose from the photos provided, to create […]

Winter Mountain Magic Photography Tour – Jan 9th – 13th 2019 – Tom Feuchtwanger’s Video

Tom Feuchtwanger and his wife, Janet Wilson, are definitely ‘Adventurous Spirits’ as they have travelled to 85 countries doing adventure travel. The adventures they have been on are not for the inexperienced or faint of heart and require a variety of skills and knowledge (and some times luck). They took part in our Winter Mountain […]

“Beyond the Darkness” – Larry Louie

Last night Mark and I went to Images Alberta Camera Club to see our good friend Larry Louie give a presentation entitled ‘Beyond the Darkness’ on some of the amazing photography that he has done while visiting various developing or third world countries around the world.  Larry’s presentation was divided into four ‘chapters’, based on his new […]

Winter Mountain Magic Photography Tour – Jan 9th – 13th 2019 – Leslie Degner’s Images

Below are a few of my favorite images taken on the first of the 2019 Winter Mountain Magic Photography Tours. With so many scenic places to go in the area, I almost forgot to include a bubble image. If you are interested in trying to capture similar images to the ones I’ve presented here, then […]

They were a great group of photographers and we had a wonderful time with them out in the field photographing and back at the lodge socializing.  Below are a few of Karen’s favorites from this year’s […]

New Bird list

This Common Raven was hanging around in a parking lot looking for handouts, instead he had his picture taken. We’ve decided to continue the “Bird List” challenge for another year. So far Mark has about 15 more bird species than I have but have no fear I will slowly catch up to him. – Leslie

High Speed Photography

A number of weeks ago as we were driving home from the mountains I played around with creating some ICM images. Although the camera did not move very much, the vehicle was moving at a high rate of speed. Please only try this if someone else is doing the driving. Her are a few images […]

A couple of birds for the list

Last year Mark and I took up the challenge from a friend, to take part in the “150 Bird Challenge” to see how many bird species we could identify during Canada’s 150th birthday year. The goal was to try and count at least 150 bird species during the year within Canada. Mark ended up counting […]
